ANDROID
Go to Telegram Settings — Notifications & Sounds, make sure notifications are ON and importance is set to “High” or higher.
Check if the relevant person or group is muted.
Make sure you have Google Play Services installed on your phone.
Check notification priority for Telegram from Android settings. It may be called Importance or Behavior depending on your device.
If your phone is using battery saving software, make sure Telegram is whitelisted in this app. You can also telegram fake members from adsmember.
NOTE: Huawei and Xiaomi devices have bad task killer services that block Telegram notification service. For our notifications to work, you need to add Telegram to the allowed apps in the security settings of these devices. Huawei: Phone Manager app > Protected Apps > Add Telegram to the list here. Xiaomi: Find Settings > Apps > Permissions > Autostart > Telegram and enable autostart.
iOS:
Go to Telegram Settings — Notifications and Sounds, make sure notifications are ON in Telegram.

Close Telegram (go to home screen, double tap home button, end Telegram by swiping up), then go to phone settings. Set the notification style for Telegram to OFF. Restart Telegram, go to phone settings, set notification style back to banners.
Problems with contacts
If you know your friends have Telegram but you can’t see them or see them as numbers instead of names; you can:
Android:
Make sure you are using the latest version of the app.
Restart the application (by ending and restarting from the list of processes).
Temporarily change the contact name in the directory (add a few symbols, then change it again).
If that doesn’t work, sign in again. Note that logging out destroys your secret chats.
iOS:
Force quit the app (double tap the home button, then swipe up on Telegram), then restart and check if that helps.

delete contacts on Android
To delete a contact, open a chat with the contact. Tap the profile photo at the top of the chat screen and then tap ‘…’ — ‘Delete’ in the top right corner.
If you want to delete the contact completely, be sure to delete it from your phone book as well. Telegram constantly syncs contacts and adds the contact back if you don’t.
Where did my Secret Chat messages go?
Secret Chats are set up between the two devices on which they were created. This means that all these messages are not in the cloud and cannot be accessed from other devices.
What’s more, Secret Chats are also tied to your current session on the device. If you sign out and sign back in, you will lose all your Secret Chats.
I can’t send messages to people who are not in my contacts
When users report spam from a Telegram account, we impose a limit: Reported accounts can only send messages to contacts whose numbers are saved as contacts.
This means that if you casually contact and send offensive messages to people you don’t know, you may lose your ability to do so in the future.

Telegram uses camera or microphone in the background!
If you minimize the application in the background while Telegram is making a call, recording a video or recording an audio/video message; can use the microphone in the background.
Permission monitors on Samsung and Xiaomi may accidentally notify you that Telegram is requesting access to the camera in the background. This happens when the app requests information about the camera, not when it’s using the camera. Unfortunately, this may look the same for Samsung and Xiaomi permission monitors.
Camera information is prompted by the app when you tap the attachment button or start recording a video or video message. If you do this and close the app quickly; the already initiated request can try to run asynchronously when the app is in the background or be sent when the system wakes the app to show notification about a new message In any case, these requests are for camera information only and the app never uses the camera itself in the background.
Anyone can check Telegram’s open source code and verify that the app isn’t doing anything behind it. We also offer reproducible builds that can help you prove that the version you downloaded from the App Store or Google Play was produced from the source code we published.
